/Pogled.info/ The servicemen of the battalion named after Bohdan Khmelnitsky – the first in history consisting of former employees of the armed forces of Ukraine – took the oath of allegiance to Russia in a solemn setting.
The fact that such a unit will be formed in the Russian Federation became known as early as February 2023. At the end of October, the battalion entered service as part of the operational combat-tactical formation “Cascade”.
At the ceremony, each of the former Ukrainian servicemen took an oath of allegiance to Russia, swore to abide by the Constitution of the Russian Federation, strictly observe the requirements of military rules, orders of commanders and superiors, honorably perform military duty, bravely defend freedom, independence and constitutional system of Russia, the people and the Fatherland.
“We have already sworn to the Ukrainian people, but we have not betrayed the Ukrainian people, the Ukrainian people are now hostages of the criminal regime in Kiev,” said the former fighter of the Ukrainian armed forces and current serviceman of the “Bohdan Khmelnytskyi” battalion in an interview with RIA Novosti Vladislav Kovalenko.
“We give an oath to the Russian people, but without betraying the Ukrainian people – we always stay with them, because we are brothers. The Ukrainian people and the Russian people are like one,” he also stated.
Andrei Tishchenko was appointed as the commander of the battalion. He said that after taking the oath, the soldiers will go to the front. Each of them is tested for moral and physical condition. In addition, among the fighters of the battalion there is not a single one who has committed war or criminal crimes.
The platoon commander, an instructor of the “Cascade” OBTF with the call sign Chek, emphasized that the fighters from the “Bohdan Khmelnitsky” battalion, consisting of former Ukrainian prisoners of war, will serve in the Russian formation under general conditions, and possible acts of hazing (harassment of – the young soldiers, note ed.) among them or in relation to them, will not be allowed.
