Former UIN North Sumatra Chancellor Surrenders After Being on DPO List for Suspected Corruption

Jakarta

The former Chancellor of UIN North Sumatra (UINSU), Saidurrahman, finally surrendered. Saidurrahman surrendered himself after being on the wanted list (DPO) for suspected corruption for more than three months.

“That’s it, that’s it. Not actually arrested. Surrender yourself well,” said Head of the Medan District Prosecutor’s Office, Mutaqqin Harahap, as reported by detikNorth SumatraTuesday (28/11/2023).

Mutaqqin said Saidurrahman surrendered himself to the Medan Prosecutor’s Office yesterday afternoon. He said that Saidurrahman has now been detained at Tanjung Gusta Prison.

“Already in detention (detained),” he said.

Previously, the Medan District Prosecutor’s Office was hunting for Saidurrahman, who had been charged with corruption in ma’had student money. As of now, Saidurrahman has been a DPO for 3 months.

Head of Medan Prosecutor’s Special Investigation Department, Mochammad Ali Rizza, revealed the obstacles to Saidurrahman’s arrest. He stated that Saidurrahman’s whereabouts continued to move. So this made it difficult for the Medan Prosecutor’s Office to arrest the defendant.
