Miami Florida. -Timothy Parlatore, who left the legal team of former President Donald Trump (2017-2021), revealed why he resigned.
In an interview with Cnn, Parlatore, who was a key member of the team defending Trump in the US Justice Department’s investigation into handling classified documents, said his decision had nothing to do with his client or with the case itself, which he describes as wrong.
“There are certain people who made defending the president much more difficult than it should be. In particular, there is a person who works for him, Boris Epshteyn, who really went out of his way to try to block us,” the lawyer said.
Trump’s former lawyer submitted his resignation this Saturday and explains that it was mainly due to infighting within the group.
Parlatore was responsible for organizing searches for the authorities of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s residence in South Florida, as well as other properties of the former president.
In December, he testified before a grand jury as part of the former president’s legal team.
The special prosecutor of the Department of Justice Jack Smith leads a US Government investigation into the possession of hundreds of documents marked with the confidentiality seal in the Mar-a-Lago mansion of the former president in Florida and around possible attempts to obstruct that inquiry.
Smith is also investigating Trump’s alleged attempts to annul the results of the 2020 presidential election, in which he lost to the current US president, Joe Biden.
