Former Trump adviser Bannon sued for contempt of parliament

Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon faces charges of contempt of Congress. This was announced by the US Department of Justice after a majority of the House voted to prosecute last month voted.

Bannon came last month no show at the parliamentary committee investigating the storming of the Capitol. He is heavily blamed for that: contempt of parliament carries a maximum prison sentence of one year and a fine of up to $100,000.

The Commission of Inquiry wants to hear Bannon about his role in the run-up to the Capitol storming on January 6. According to the committee members, the 67-year-old former adviser made statements a day before the storming that suggested that he already knew what was going to happen. He said in a podcast that “all hell will break loose tomorrow”.
