Quest Motors, a start-up from Indonesia, brings the Atom Alpha electric motorcycle to the 2021 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). This is a motorcycle in the ‘toy boys’ segment made locally from Bandung, West Java.
Quest Motors founder, Niko Questera is a former engineer at Tesla Motors and American Honda Motor in the United States. Atom Alpha is the first motorcycle made by Quest Motors with a variety of advanced features like the Tesla, but the price is cheaper than the Honda Beat.
“This is Atom Alpha, the name is our first product from Quest Motors. Why Atom? Because we want this motorbike to be a product for families. Atoms are usually items that can be made into one material. Atom Alpha can be intended for adults and teenagers,” said Niko when met by detikcom at GIIAS 2021, Sunday (11/14/2021).
Atom Alpha is an off the road motorcycle, aka not used for highways like motorcycles in general. Niko said this motorbike was aimed at the hobby, lifestyle, and transportation segments for industry and tourism in Indonesia.
“Atom Alpha is intended for people to be in the complex, in factories, tourism, resorts as a means of transportation,” explained Niko.

Atom Alpha is a local production headquartered in Bandung, West Java. Niko said the level of local content in the country has even reached 80 percent.
“Everything is produced in Bandung, the most that are still outside are electric motors and battery cells. We only make the packs in Bandung,” said Niko.
Niko has a background as an engineer at Tesla. This became the motivation behind the creation of the first motorcycle, the Atom Alpha.
“Engineering at the factory, the same as diagnosis for service technicians. I work as a bridge between manufacturing engineers and technicians. As a factory team representative from Developers. Then I returned to Indonesia at the end of 2018,” said Niko.
“I’m interested in contributing before I forget my knowledge and experience from Tesla. So we make Quest Motor, all of them (Quest Motors Team) are local,” he continued.
Besides Niko, Atom Alpha is also supported by several young creative Indonesian talents who are experienced in the automotive field. Among them are Nicholas Santoso who holds Product Design who has worked at Kawasaki, Adhe Anggriawan Putra as Design Engineer who has experience at Daihatsu and Astra Otoparts and Vicky Ghani, PhD as Head of Technology with experience at LG and Microsoft. Danis Sie as Creative Director who is the founder of the Sciencewerk agency.
Atom Alpha has compact dimensions
Atom Alpha is not intended as a mode of transportation like motorbikes on the road in general. This tiny motorbike targets the lifestyle, hobby, and business segments in the tourism sector.
One advantage of the Atom Alpha is its compact design. It doesn’t need to be folded but the motorbike is still easy to transport into the car.
Dimensionally, the Atom Alpha measures 1,300 mm long x 690 mm wide x 1,030 mm high. Tiny like a Honda Monkey motorcycle. Atom Alpha has a smaller size than the motor in general, reminiscent of a childhood toy.

“We want the inspiration to go to the Honda Monkey, but want it to be smaller so that it can be put in the car. We want this motorbike even though it can’t be folded but still easy to carry to resorts or villas, can walk around in the fields, to the garden. Make it fun , used on weekends,” said Niko.
Niko said that the first batch of Atom Alpha had produced about 30 units. In the future, he targets approximately 100 Alpha Atoms to be assembled in Bandung, West Java.
“So far, about 26 have sold, hopefully at this GIIAS we will accept pre-orders again,” added Niko.
Some of the excellent features of Atom Alpha include the Battery Management System, Quest Apps connectivity, Keyless Feature using a card, Remote Health Check, Live Location Tracking, and Realtime Notification of Vehicle Status.
