tvFour former participants of ‘Temptation Island: love or leave’ have reported to victim lawyer Sébas Diekstra. They also claim to have suffered psychological complaints or at least damage from the program. The lawyer informed the Dutch news agency ANP on Tuesday evening. The episodes, including Flemish couples, were shown in our country at Play 5.
In total there are now nine former participants who say that they suffered mental complaints or at least suffered damage during the recordings. Last weekend, former participants Aylin and Efrain told about the emotional damage they have left after participating in the program.
According to the couple, Aylin made two suicide attempts as a result of the psychological complaints that resulted from the program. They received financial compensation of 30,000 euros, but are still considering legal action against the Dutch channel RTL.
Individual
The other former participants reported individually and not as a couple, says Diekstra. “A number have indicated that they want to share their story with RTL. We will speak to a number of others in the coming days.”
RTL and production house SimpelZodiak stated on Monday that they did not want to comment on the matter. “We naturally stand for respectful cooperation,” says the spokesperson on behalf of the two media companies. “And if the parties really cannot come to an agreement, there is always the independent reporting point Mores, where participants can always go.”
A spokesperson for RTL announced on Tuesday evening that the company will stick to the earlier statement. There are no recordings of the program at the moment, but a new season is being prepared.
