Gylfi Sigurdsson took a break from his football career in the summer of 2022, when he was suspected of sexual offences. For some time now, all charges have been dropped.
He has previously been linked with a move to MLS side DC United. But now Lyngby’s head coach, Freyr Alexandersson, opens up that the Icelander could end up in the Danish league.
Alexandersson confirms that he has been in contact with the former PL star, but no agreement is close at the moment.
– Should Gylfi Sigurdsson come here, he will lift many things. No doubt about it. But we are nowhere near that right now. The only thing I know is that I know Gylfi well and he knows me well, he says and continues:
– We have talked, and maybe he will come and train with us. Then we’ll take it from there. Right now it’s not realistic, but I said that about Alfred (Finnbogason) as well. Right now it’s only conversations between him and me.
Gylfi Sigurdsson is recorded for 67 goals and 52 assists in a total of 318 matches in the Premier League.
Lyngby started the Danish league season by losing at home to FCK.
