Spotify has great podcasts. The company is one of the biggest podcast companies in the world, but that doesn’t mean they haven’t had to lay off some people. In the past, Spotify had to lay off several people in its podcast division, and Max Cutler was one of them. Well, according to a new report, Cutler launched the Pave Podcasting Network, and plans to pick up where he left off.
Cutler originally started a company called Parcast that focused on horror and true crime podcasts. Spotify bought it in 2019 for a billion dollars. After the acquisition, he was promoted to Head of Content and Creator Partnerships at Spotify Talk. He has since left the company and returned to his business owner.
Spotify’s vice president created the Pave podcast network
Pave is a network of original audio content. Who will be the studio specifically? Well, it’s all in the name. Pave is an acronym for Podcasts, Audiobooks, Videos and Entertainment. The company has already released its launch trailer. You can see it below.
So this podcast network will be like no other. It will be a central hub to access original audio/video content.
According to reports, he may have already signed a couple of creators to do original shows. These creators include Nicole Lapin (Money Rehab), Mark Hyman (Doctor Farm), Allie Luber (Vanderpump Rules), Gemma Sbag (Australian self-help podcast) and Aliza Kelly (celebrity expert).
At this time, we do not know how much the content will be available. Being a newer company, we don’t expect to have a library of content similar to Spotify or YouTube Music. The latter upped his podcast game.
However, Pave seems to be a network for discovering more obscure and creative forms of audio/video media. You should definitely keep an eye on Peacock because it looks like it’s ready to take the podcast world by storm.
