Former Spokesperson Sindires Former Corruptors Will Become KPK Leaders

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Former Spokesman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (NCP) Febri Diansyah insinuated that the KPK program was about to collaborate with exes corruptor or former corruption convicts in preventing corruption in Indonesia.

The initial news that spread to the public was that the KPK planned to use former corruption convicts as extension agents, but this was later clarified. The KPK emphasized that they were cooperating with them to provide testimony about the bad effects of corruption.

In the future, bolder breakthroughs are needed. Not only making former corrupt convicts as anti-corruption counselors, but making them the leaders of the KPK. Who is your candidate?” said Febri in a tweet on the Twitter account @febridiansyah quoted Tuesday (24/8).

He said maintaining sanity in the midst of the current deplorable conditions is not an easy task.

“It is not easy to maintain sanity in the current situation,” said the anti-corruption activist.

This criticism of the KPK program, which collaborated with former corruption convicts, was previously also conveyed by a non-active KPK employee, Novel Baswedan.

The novel strongly criticizes the term “survivor” which is assigned to former corruption convicts. According to him, the KPK leadership has gone too far.

“The behavior of the KPK leadership is strange and outrageous. Don’t they understand or don’t care about corruption? When referring to corruptors as survivors (victims), then who is the culprit? The state?,” Novel tweeted, Sunday (22/8) on his Twitter account, @nazaqistsha.

Meanwhile, the KPK has confirmed that it will not use former corruption convicts as anti-corruption counselors.

Plt. Spokesperson for Prevention of the KPK, Ipi Maryati Kuding, said they were only asked to provide testimony about their experiences during the legal process. Including the impact on self, family and social life.

That way, he hopes the public will know the bad effects of corruption.

“No prisoners [korupsi] who will be the instructor. According to the Deputy’s explanation [Wawan Wardiana] In the press conference, it will be explored to use their testimonies for counseling materials that the KPK will carry out,” said Ipi.
