Former soldier, former gendarme, Alain Bigot has left us

Alain Bigot, honorary president, vice-president and former president of the departmental union of personnel and pensioners of the gendarmerie of Saône-et-Loire, died on April 24 at the age of 67.

Alain Bigot was also very active in other associations. He was treasurer of the 67th section of the Mâcon Military Medal, a member of the association of military retirees in the department.

Born in 1953 in Mâcon, he joined the Navy Troops in 1971. After being admitted to the school of active non-commissioned officers in Saint-Maixent, he was successively assigned to the infantry application school in Montpellier, at the 22nd RIMA in Albi where he married Jeanine in 1974, then assigned to Guadeloupe and then to the 1st RIMA of Angoulême. Marshal of the Logis Chef, in 1982 he left the army to join the school of non-commissioned officers of the gendarmerie in Châtellerault where he ranked major in his class. He was then assigned to the gendarmerie brigade of Bar-sur-Loup in the Alpes-Maritimes. In 1985, after a schooling at the superior school of military engineering where he is qualified supervisor of works, he was transferred to the real estate affairs services in Nice, then in Charnay-lès-Mâcon. Head of service in the Epinal gendarmerie group, he joined French Polynesia in Papeete from 1996 to 1999, then the Corsican departmental group from 1999 to 2005, still as head of service. He will exercise his retirement rights with the rank of chief warrant officer, on 1er February 2005, totaling 33 years of active service, to retire to Feillens.

Alain Bigot was decorated with the national defense gold medal and the prestigious military medal, a justly recognition of his commitment.

In 2006, he joined the union of gendarmerie personnel and retirees. From 2009 to 2019, he will exercise the functions of departmental president, then vice-president. He also joined in 2009 the 67th section of the Military Medalists of Mâcon where he will be treasurer in 2012.
