(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Oh Myeong-eon = Kim, the obstetrician and gynecologist who sued former soccer player Lee Dong-guk on charges of attempted fraud, announced his intention to withdraw the lawsuit.
Lee Dong-guk’s agency, Saengsang Entertainment, announced on the 22nd that Mr. Kim “has expressed his intention to withdraw the lawsuit, saying (the origin of this incident) stemmed from my misunderstanding.”
Previously, Mr. Kim, the director of Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, filed a police complaint against Lee Dong-guk and his spouse, Lee Su-jin, on charges of attempted fraud.
Lee Dong-guk and his wife gave birth to two children in 2013 and 2014 at Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic A, run by Mr. Kwak. After the couple gave birth, Mr. Kim took over the business rights of A Obstetrics and Gynecology from Mr. Kwak.
Lee Dong-guk and his wife later found out late that Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic A had been using the couple’s photos without permission, and applied to the court for mediation against Mr. Kim in October last year, demanding 1.2 billion won in modeling fees. However, the application was dismissed because Lee Dong-guk and his wife did not continue mediation.
Regarding this, Mr. Kim claimed that it was an attempted fraud, saying that Lee Dong-guk and his wife, who are close to Mr. Kwak, filed a lawsuit on behalf of Mr. Kwak to pressure him, but Lee Dong-guk said, “We will take legal action against Mr. Kim, who is deceiving the public with false facts, for defamation and false accusation.” One day after issuing an official statement saying, “We are preparing,” we decided to withdraw the lawsuit.
