  • Asaad M (25) cares for his mother, Leah M (52) suffering from colorectal cancer due to smoking.

Karen Hacker, MD, MPH, director of the CDC’s National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, thanked them, former smokers for sharing their experiences.

So many people are trying to quit smoking, so as not to experience similar pain as the people mentioned above.

“We are very grateful to those who dare to share stories about their experiences after becoming active smokers and experiencing various diseases in their bodies,” he said.
