Now, at 51, he will see a lot of footballs on the training ground in New York. “Welcome, Jochen,” wrote the American football club New York Red Bulls on Friday on social media. So it was official: The former sports director of FC Schalke 04 has found a new job in the USA.
As “Head of Sports” of the MLS club, he should also intensify the close cooperation with the other two Red Bull clubs Leipzig and Bragantino in Brazil. It’s a return for the 51-year-old: Before his engagement Schalke Schneider was from October 2015 only “Coordinator Sport Global Soccer” of the beverage empire and from July 2017 to February 2019 “Head of Sport” under Sports Director Ralf Rangnick RB Leipzig.
