Mercedes Moné, the former Sasha Banks of WWE, has made her debut with competitor All Elite Wrestling. Former Sasha Banks joins AEW
Moné (“The Manadalorian”), now also known as a Star Wars actress, left WWE at the end of 2022 after a heated argument about a lack of appreciation and initially joined the Japanese AEW partner league NJPW.
There were already rumors about a possible AEW deal back then, but a serious knee injury – sustained in a match against Willow Nightingale, also active in AEW, 10 months ago – took Moné out of the game for a long time.
Now the former co-founder of the “Women’s Revolution” in WWE – together with Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and her good friend Bayley, she was part of the “Four Horsewomen” who took women’s wrestling to a new level there – has actually landed at AEW.
At a special edition of the TV show Dynamite (“Big Business”) dedicated to her from her hometown of Boston, she made a big appearance that immediately confirmed that she now wants to take AEW’s women’s division to the next level.

To the cheers of her home audience, Moné then gave an emotional speech in which she thanked her fans who have always supported her along the way. Sometimes with tears in her eyes, she also formulated declarations of love for her tragically deceased role model Eddie Guerrero and her autistic brother Joshua, with whom she had a particularly close relationship throughout her life – and then moved on to “business”.
Moné explained that she moved to AEW “because I have to be here, because I want to be here, because AEW is the only place where this revolution can go global” – also referring to AEW’s working relationship with NJPW and alluded to other international leagues, which open up further match constellations for her (AEW boss Tony Khan also met with Taro Okada, president of the Japanese women’s wrestling league Stardom, on the sidelines of the show). She can’t wait to “create magic” and shake things up in the ring with the female members of the AEW locker room.
There was a foretaste at the end of the show when she came to the aid of her companion Nightingale when she was attacked by the up-and-coming Julia Hart and Skye Blue after her match against the Japanese. Moné ended up giving Hart – holder of AEW’s TBS Women’s title – her finisher, Moné Maker. There are signs of a title duel in the near future.

Okada debuts, Joe remains champion, “Scissor Gang” falls apart
