Former Russian President Medvedev Issues Nuclear Threats to Western Countries Supporting Ukraine

Former Russian President and Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, once again issued nuclear threats to Western countries that are helping Ukraine.

In a few days, it will be exactly 2 years since the start of the full-scale war that Russia started against Ukraine. Currently, the Russian army has occupied nearly 1/5 of Ukraine. Kiev has announced that the goal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is the liberation of all occupied lands, including the Crimean peninsula, but at the moment, with the lack of ammunition and certain weapons, this seems impossible.

Medvedev said that there is no way Russia would agree to the return of the borders from 1991, when Ukraine declared independence after the collapse of the USSR. “This means the direct and irreversible collapse of today’s Russia,” Medvedev wrote in Telegram, referring to Ukraine’s “new territories” written into the Russian constitution.

“Attempts to return Russia to the borders of 1991 will only lead to one thing. Towards a global war with the Western countries, using the entire strategic arsenal of our country. Against Kiev, Berlin, London, Washington. To all other beautiful historical sites that have long been included in the flight targets of our nuclear triad,” Medvedev wrote.

The former Russian president pointed out that the power in the Kremlin, in the person of Vladimir Putin, will not sit idly by and allow “the disappearance of a thousand-year-old state, our great motherland.” Medvedev pointed out that a nuclear power cannot lose a war when it comes to the defense of the fatherland, not in “American colonial wars of conquest” (referring to Vietnam and Afghanistan).

Medvedev’s comments came against the backdrop of Russia’s first significant frontline victory in months – the capture of the town of Avdeevka in Donetsk Oblast, which had been fiercely fought for months. The US Congress has not yet decided whether to continue military and financial support to Kiev against Russian aggression, putting the future of the Ukrainian state in question. Ukraine faces defeat in the war unless Europe does more, The Times reported, citing Europe’s growing role amid uncertainty in Washington.
