The comments came after the British foreign secretary condoned a large-scale drone strike on Moscow earlier this week.
In a Twitter post on Wednesday (31/5/2023), Medvedev accused London of being Moscow’s “eternal enemy”.
The former leader, who currently serves as co-chair of Russia’s Security Council, claims that under international law, including the Hague and Geneva Conventions with their additional protocols, Britain can also be eligible to go to war.
The former Russian president argued, “By providing Ukraine with arms and training, Britain is de facto leading an undeclared war against Russia.”
Medvedev hinted this could have an immediate impact on “public officials” in Britain.
His tweet quoted a statement made Tuesday by British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, who said Ukraine had the right “to project force beyond its borders to undermine Russia’s ability to project force onto Ukraine itself.”
He further shrewdly claims striking “legitimate military targets” in Russia is an acceptable part of Ukraine’s self-defence.
