Former Russian international defender Mario Fernandez, who left CSKA in May, has decided to resume his career and will play in Brazil, informed press service of CSKA.
“Friends! Together with Mario Fernandez, we wish to inform you that Mario has made the decision to resume his playing career. Our club did not oppose Mario’s desire to spend another year in Brazil to be close to his wife and newborn son,” reads the message.
CSKA said they were waiting for the 32-year-old Fernandez to return.
In May, Fernandez said he was feeling extremely tired and was putting his career on hold. The footballer said that if he felt the strength to help CSKA, he would return and continue to play for the “soldiers”.
Fernandez has been playing for CSKA since 2012, winning the Russian championship three times with the club. As part of the Russian national team, Fernandez played 33 matches and scored five goals.
