Lieutenant General Vladimir Sviridov has been found dead in his own home.
According to a source of RIA Novosti the body of a woman is said to have been found next to the general.
Her identity has not yet been established, but the news agency writes that it is probably the general’s wife, Ukrainian reports Pravda.
The 68-year-old general and his 72-year-old wife lived in a house in the town of Mineralnyje Vody.
Vladimir Sviridov was commander of the 6th Army of the Russian Air Force from 2005 to 2009.

A source told RIA Novosti that there were no signs that the deaths were due to a criminal act.
Findings at the scene indicate that both may have died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
There have been no official Russian reactions to the death.
