Bulgarian gymnast Stiliana Nikolova finished second with 32,600 points and Italian Sofia Refaeli finished third with 31,850 points. Bartholomew’s gold was the first for the German national team since 1975. Then Christina Rosenberg won the world championship.

Varfolomeev was born in Barnaul and played for Russia until the age of 13. In 2019 she moved to Germany and changed sports citizenship. In addition to the gold medal from the World Championship, the Bartholomews have two bronze medals from the European Championship and two gold medals from the Challenge Cup stage in Spain.

On March 4, the FIG suspended Russian athletes from international tournaments. Gymnasts were forbidden to participate in competitions held under the auspices of the federation. Even Russian judges and officials will not be able to participate.
