Former Russian Football Player Andrei Solomatin Joins Espanyol Battalion and Heads to Ukraine as ‘Special Operation’ Zone

Former football player of the Russian national team Andrei Solomatin said that he joined the Espanyol battalion, formed from football fans, and went to the “special operation” zone in Ukraine.

As Solomatin himself stated, he received the call sign Soloma and is now under Bakhmut.

“You don’t have to juggle, you need to slowly turn around to face the guys who are here,” Solomatin said, commenting on his decision.

Solomatin is 47 years old. When he was a football player, he spent six seasons for Lokomotiv Moscow and two for CSKA, in which he became the champion of Russia in 2003. Solomatin played 13 games for the national team, including taking part in the 2002 World Cup.
