Those of you who have been following the gaming news, of course, still remember Hiroyuki Kobayashi’s departure from Capcom following his career over the past 27 years. This important creative figure for Capcom has been involved in so many popular franchises, from Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Devil May Cry, to Dragon’s Dogma. Kobayashi’s departure was even more surprising after it was confirmed that he would be moving to NetEase, a name he had managed to catch the brain of the Yakuza series some time earlier. It turns out he’s been “given” a new study.
Kobayashi is confirmed to lead a new NetEase studio called GPTRACK50 which will still be located in Japan. Not only containing video game developers, GPTRACK 50 will also be filled by professionals from the world of film and television considering their great ambitions as well. Essentially, this new studio will be asked to mix high-quality games for the console and PC market, while opening up opportunities to grow and adapt to other media.
There is no exact information on what kind of initial GPTRACK50 project will work. And you? Is there hope, what kind of first game do they come up with?
