Raf could find several of its former players next season, transferred to Ligue 2 clubs.
In addition to the arrival of Pierre Ruffaut at Onet-le-Château and the probable signing of Rémy Boissier at Dunkirk, already reported by our site, several other former Ruthénois have changed clubs since the start of the summer.
Defender Julien Célestine, who wore the blood and gold tunic between 2020 and 2022, will continue his world tour. After having evolved in particular in Belgium, Latvia and Mexico, the colossus is heading for Hungary.
He signed up with Diosgyori, promoted to the first division. Célestine had been free of any commitment since the end of her adventure at Club Leon in April. He had failed to establish himself in the Mexican formation, with only 4 appearances during the season.
Johann Obiang and Valentin Henry remain in Ligue 2
He too left Raf a year ago and he too is changing clubs. After a mixed season in Caen (13 appearances), cut short in particular by injuries, Johann Obiang signed a two-season contract with Pau, another Ligue 2 club.
Conversely, a former Piton joined Stade Malherbe. This is Valentin Henry, Ruthénois between 2019 and 2021, who left Sochaux to find in Normandy Jean-Marc Furlan, his former trainer in Brest.
These two players are likely to face their former partner Yohan Roche in Ligue 2. The central defender spent in blood and gold between 2019 and 2021 joined Quevilly, after two seasons in Turkey.
Daillet and Guerbert are descended from a division
In the amateur championships, Aurélien Tertereau joined Avranches (National). The 31-year-old midfielder has evolved over the past two years in Toulon (N2). Edouard Daillet left Paris Atletico, penultimate of National last season. The central defender passed by Aveyron between 2015 and 2018 will evolve in Saint-Malo, resident of National 2.
His former partner Mathieu Guerbert, trained in Rodez and a member of the senior squad for eight seasons, joined Montauban (R1) after two seasons in Colomiers (N3).
He is not the only one to bounce back at the regional level: after winding journeys, Dorian Caddy and Boris Mathis are committed to Villefranche Saint-Jean Beaulieu (R1) and Chalon (R1).
Still players looking for a contract
This list is likely to grow in the coming weeks, since several former blood and gold are currently looking for a contract, such as Pierre Bardy, Bart Straalman, Nathanaël Dieng or Ayoub Ouhafsa.
As well as another player who left the Raf this summer, Thomas Secchi, currently in preparation with the UNFP.
