The former president of the Qatari federation is running for a position in the Arab federation
Today, Saturday, the Qatar Football Association announced the candidacy of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani for the position of Vice President of the Arab Football Association for the Asian continent and for membership in the Arab Football Association Council for the current electoral cycle that extends until 2025.
The official statement, which was published by the Federation on its website, confirmed: “The elections will be held within the agenda of the 27th General Assembly meeting of the Arab Football Association on the tenth of next August in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
He concluded, “It is worth noting that the recent elections that were held in June 2021 to choose the new executive office of the Arab Football Association in its new session 2021-2025 resulted in the recommendation of Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal as president of the Arab Football Association.”
Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani held the presidency of the Qatar Federation for nearly 20 years, specifically from December 30, 2004 until 2023, and the Qatari teams achieved many achievements during his reign, most notably the 2019 Asian Cup title.
