Parkash Singh Badal, a five-time former chief minister of Punjab and Akali Dal patriarch, passed away at the age of 95 in Mohali. He was admitted to Fortis Hospital a week ago after experiencing breathing difficulties. The news was confirmed by his son and party president Sukhbir Singh Badal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the tributes to the legendary leader, describing him as a “colossal figure of Indian politics, and a remarkable statesman” who worked tirelessly for the progress of Punjab. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed his condolences, calling it a “personal loss.” Parkash Singh Badal’s legacy as the youngest Chief Minister of Punjab will be remembered for generations to come.
