What is known about Dries van Agt
Van Agt was Prime Minister of the Netherlands from 1977 to 1982. After leaving official posts, he continued to actively participate in international politics, in particular in the process of resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Since his visit to Israel in 1999, van Agt has stated his support for the Palestinian people. He called his travel experience a “conversion.”
In 2009, he founded The Rights Forum, which advocates for “a fair and sustainable Dutch and European policy on the Israeli-Palestinian issue.”
Why did the couple perform euthanasia?
Van Agt and his wife had been in poor health for some time. Van Agt suffered a cerebral hemorrhage in 2019 and never fully recovered.
The couple died on Monday, February 5. Both were 93 years old.
They will be buried in a private ceremony in the eastern city of Nijmegen.
He died holding hands with his beloved wife Eugenie van Agt-Krekelberg, support and support, with whom he was together for more than 70 years and whom he always called “my girl,”
– reported in The Rights Forum.
Let us remind you that euthanasia is still legal in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Spain under certain conditions.
As previously reported, in Switzerland they created a capsule for euthanasia on a 3D printer and allowed it to be used. The device was called a capsule for the “Merciful death of the future.” It is equipped with a mechanism that fills everything inside with nitrogen, quickly reducing the oxygen concentration in the air to 1%. The capsule is activated from the inside by a person who wants to die in this way. However, before this, such a person is asked a number of questions.
It should be noted that active euthanasia is prohibited in Switzerland. However, this country allows, under certain conditions, the provision of euthanasia to persons wishing to die.
