Former President Donald Trump used documents marked secret to write down to-do lists. A former Trump aide, Molly Michael, is said to have told this to federal investigators, ABC News reports, citing sources familiar with her statements.
Michael allegedly received repeated requests or orders from Trump that were written on the back of sensitive White House materials, which contained visible classification marks. The materials contained information that helped Trump prepare for telephone calls and meetings with foreign leaders or other internationally related matters.
Michael became Trump’s White House executive assistant in 2018 and continued to work for him after he left office. She resigned last year.
The to-do lists on the classified materials were located at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate when FBI agents searched the property on August 8, 2022, but were not taken by the FBI, according to ABC. A Trump spokesperson dismissed the report as “unlawful leaks” and denied wrongdoing by the former president.
Criminal cases
Trump, along with two aides, has been charged with unlawfully storing large quantities of classified documents in his personal home and lying to federal investigators who tried to recover them. He says he is innocent.
In addition to this case in Florida, there are three other criminal cases against Trump: in Washington DC, New York and Georgia. The candidate for the Republican presidential nomination is being prosecuted for his role in the storming of the Capitol, criminal offenses in the payment of hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels and incitement to election fraud. He also pleads not guilty in these cases.
