NEW YORK — The judge who presided over the landmark criminal indictment of former President Donald Trump in New York City a day ago, along with his family and the court itself, received unsubstantiated threats after the hearing, two sources familiar said Wednesday. with the matter.
One official says there have been “dozens” of such threats recently to the judge and the judge’s chamber, though the official did not elaborate on the time frame.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who brought the landmark case against the former commander-in-chief, and other senior officials in his office also continue to receive threats, according to a source. The unsubstantiated threats have come in the form of calls, emails and letters.
The Manhattan district attorney’s office confirmed to NBC News that they have since removed information in the “Meet Our Team” section of their website, which included executive biographies.
The NYPD detail assigned to Bragg’s office is providing additional security for all affected district attorney staff, including line prosecutors and senior office executives, the sources said. Court security officers are providing additional protection measures to the presiding judge and court as a precaution, they added.
Investigations into the threats are active and ongoing, the sources say.
When asked about comments Trump and others had made about the judge and his family, a spokesman for the New York court said neither the court nor the judge had any comment.
