Former U.S. President Trump appeared in person at a civil trial on fraud loan allegations held at the Manhattan District Court in New York City on the 2nd local time.
Former President Trump met with reporters before entering the court and claimed that New York State Attorney General Letitia James, who is running for governor of New York, is conducting a witch hunt and that this case is a fraud and nonsense.
Former President Trump then compared his company’s brand value to Coca-Cola and refuted allegations of asset inflating, saying that a bad judge undervalued everything even though the brand, which was its best asset, was not reflected in the books.
However, New York State Attorney General Letitia James emphasized in a press conference before the start of the trial that no one can stand above the law, no matter how powerful or wealthy they are, and said that the fraud of former President Trump and others had already been recognized in a summary trial last week.
Previously, New York state prosecutors filed a civil suit in a New York state court in September last year, claiming that former President Trump had inflated the value of a number of assets, including a mansion and building in New York and a golf course in England, by $2.2 billion for more than 10 years to facilitate bank loans. A lawsuit has been filed.
On the 26th of last month, the Manhattan District Court partially acknowledged the plaintiff’s claim that former President Trump greatly inflated the value of his real estate assets.
