Washington: Former US President Donald Trump, who has been indicted on federal criminal charges in the case of illegal storage of classified documents, is tightening his grip.
Even after he left the White House in January 2021, Trump was humbled by keeping secret documents. It also contains important documents related to nuclear weapons, according to the charge sheet. Trump is also alleged to have shown guests during a party at a golf club in New Jersey a classified file related to a US plan to attack an unnamed country.
It contained information from security agencies, US weapons capabilities, and countermeasures with allies. The indictment alleges that Trump has endangered national security since leaving the White House.
It is illegal in the US for federal officials, including the president, to remove or store classified documents in an unauthorized location. In August last year, the FBI raided Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida and seized 11,000 documents. Trump will appear in federal court in Miami on Tuesday.
