Former President of Bariven and PDVSA Industrial Arrested for Corruption Charges

Caracas.- According to judicial sources, Colonel (Army) Oscar Albis Dávila Rondón, who served as president of Bariven and PDVSA Industrial, was detained by the National Police against Corruption.

Both are affiliated companies of PDVSA that procure the goods (Bariven) for the development of the state’s own activities and direct the productive apparatus of the industries that process crude oil (PDVSA Industrial), according to official gazettes.

According to investigations, Dávila Rondón attended the same secondary school as Colonel Antonio Pérez Suárez, who is currently detained and is considered by the Public Ministry as the leader of a mafia that operated from PDVSA and stole money from the State by selling crude whose profits did not go to the National Treasure.

Apparently, Dávila Rondón was part of the framework that was revealed on March 17, the day the National Police against Corruption began an operation to locate and apprehend those responsible for the embezzlement, which to date total 63 who have been deprived of liberty

For the alleged commission of the crimes of treason, circumvention of rules, regulations or restrictions on tenders, concert to execute a contract, money laundering and association, Dávila Rondón will face charges.

In the arrest warrant number, this list of crimes is listed. Under the leadership of Judge Carlos Enrique Liendo, the Specialized Control Court with 2nd Jurisdiction in Causes Related to Crimes Associated with Terrorism, Corruption and Organized Crime issued Order No. 160-23.
