CNN published a conversation in which former President Donald Trump discussed a secret document of the attack on Iran that he kept in his home, in a recording that was used as important evidence to charge him recently with mishandling government secrets after his departure from the White House.
In the recording, Trump spoke about the document, which he said was “classified” and not “declassified,” as stated in the indictment against him on June 13.
In addition to the clips revealed by the indictment, the two-minute recording, first published by CNN on Monday night, appears to confirm the top secret document detailing a hypothetical plan to attack Iran.
Speaking of former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, Trump said in the recording, “I want to attack Iran.” He continued, “Look. This (document) I received from him, they gave it to me, not for publication, but they gave it to me. It came from him, from the Ministry of Defense and from him.”

Trump made these statements, in the recording dated July 21, 2021, according to the indictment, in front of two employees and two people who wanted to meet him to prepare a book that CNN said was the memoirs of former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.
Trump continued, “As president, I could have declassified it. Right now I can’t, you know, but it remains a secret.” “We have a problem right now,” one of his advisors replied with a laugh.
Trump and his aides also joked about Hillary Clinton’s emails after the former president said the document was “classified information.”
“Hillary would have printed that,” someone told Trump, and Donald Trump replied, “No, she would have sent it to Anthony Weiner,” referring to the former Democratic congressman, drawing laughter.

electoral interference
On Monday evening, after the recording was broadcast, Trump denounced what he called “new election interference,” accusing independent prosecutor Jack Smith, the Justice Department and the FBI of “illegally leaking the audio recording and drawing attention to it.”
“The audio recording proves, once again, that President Trump did absolutely nothing wrong,” Trump campaign spokesman Stephen Cheung said in a statement.
In mid-June, Trump, who was president of the United States from 2017 to 2021, was indicted in a federal court in Miami with 37 counts, including “unlawful retention of national security information”, “obstruction of justice” and “perjury”.

This case is one of several legal cases that challenge Trump and cast a shadow over his candidacy for another presidential term in 2024. The former president is accused of endangering the security of the United States by keeping military plans and information related to nuclear weapons in his home in Florida.
