ATLANTA, KOMPAS.com – Former President Donald Trump was arrested Thursday (24/8/2023) on charges that he illegally plotted to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia.
After a short 20-minute process, history recorded a mugshot photo of a former US president for the first time.
He was released on $200,000 bail and returned to the airport for his flight home to New Jersey.

According to the Associated Press, Trump gave a thumbs up through the window of his sports vehicle as his motorcade drove away.
A mugshot released by authorities shows Trump, dressed in a navy suit and red tie, angrily staring at the camera, his brow furrowed as he stares into the lens.
Trump insists as he has repeatedly said that he has done nothing wrong and has called the case accusing him of tampering with the election result a travesty of justice.
“If you fight elections, you have to be able to challenge elections,” he told reporters on the airport tarmac before boarding his plane.
Trump’s handing over to law enforcement officials, the fourth this year, has now become a common routine in election season.
Trump’s visit to Atlanta, however, was markedly different from his three previous surrenders, which took place at night and required him to visit a troubled prison, not a courthouse.
This is happening not in liberal areas like New York or Washington, but in the heart of a state that is seen as crucial to the 2024 presidential election.

His visit to a Georgia prison created something extraordinary during the Republican primary in 2024, for which Trump remains the leading candidate.

The Fulton County prosecution is the fourth criminal case against Trump since March, when he became the first former president in US history to be indicted.

Since then, he has faced federal charges in Florida and Washington, and this month he was arraigned in Atlanta along with 18 other people.
