Former Playmate Holly Madison opens up about Play…

Holly Madison, ex-girlfriend of Hugh Hefner and former resident of his ‘Playboy Mansion’, opens up about life behind closed doors in the famous house. It would be less glamorous than it appears on television, she says. More than that: “Life was hellish.”

It is not the first time that former Playboy bunnies have opened up about life in the so-called Playboy Mansion, the home of the late Hugh Hefner. Holly Madison, now 41, also talks candidly about life in the Playboy house. She says that between 2001 and 2008, the time she was with Hefner, she succumbed several times to the pressure to “look just like everyone else there.”

The fact that she one day decided to cut her haircut shorter was therefore not well received. “He freaked out about that,” Madison says. “He yelled at me and said I looked old, hard and cheap.” A friend of Hefner, Jonathan Baker, confirms the story. “I remember she cut her hair and he was very unhappy about it,” it sounds. “Well, his world.”

Hefner – who died in 2017 at the age of 91 – had multiple sexual relations with the young women at the mansion. Every so often another woman was his “most important friend”. That way of life, and all the drama surrounding it, often made life in the house hellish, Madison wrote earlier in her book Down the Rabbit Hole. In the emotional account, the woman also says that she often felt cut off from the world and from other playmates, especially after she was forced to quit her job as a waitress. When she asked to see a therapist because she felt depressed, she was refused.

The revelations prompted a new docuseries on the US A&E Network, Secrets of Playboy, featuring interviews with “colleagues, executives, playmates and employees at every level of the brand.” The series can be seen from January 24.
