Former Physiotherapist Denies Rape and Assault Charges

Former physiotherapist Bennie Z. is surprised about the charges against him. Sixteen women have accused him of rape or assault. He calls his treatment “unusual”, but today denies all accusations before the judge.

The former patients of 55-year-old Z. from Emmer-Compascuum in Drenthe state that he assaulted or raped them. According to their statements, this happened in his practice in Klazienaveen between January 2016 and October 2021.

Z. was arrested in November 2021 after several reports. On the first day of the hearing in Assen, the suspect strongly denies the accusations.

According to the women, they had to lie naked on the treatment table and Z. then touched their buttocks, breasts and pubic area. Two complainants stated that the former physiotherapist entered their bodies. This could result in him being convicted of rape.

Z. calls his treatment method “unusual”, but says that the treatments have always been in the interest of the health of the patients. He says he discussed everything in advance and never overwhelmed a patient.

The court sets aside two days to hear the case.
