Former paratroopers staged a fight in Gorky Park


Moscow. August 2. INTERFAX.RU – Several people were detained after a conflict between former paratroopers and law enforcement officers during the celebration of the Airborne Forces Day in Gorky Park in Moscow, an informed source told Interfax on Sunday.

“Four people were detained as a result of a fight between former paratroopers and riot police officers in Gorky Park. One law enforcement officer received minor injuries, he was provided with assistance on the spot,” he said.

The interlocutor of the agency noted that the incident occurred after law enforcement officers asked the former paratroopers “to behave more modestly and not to wave the Airborne Forces flag, disturbing others.”

Another informed source told Interfax that a Rosgvardia employee was injured as a result of the conflict.

“Previously, there is no talk of a mass brawl,” he said. “But there really was a conflict, a conscript of the National Guard, who was cordoned off, suffered.”

According to him, the Russian Guardsman was not seriously injured. The source added that the circumstances of the conflict are being clarified, information on the detainees is being clarified.

Meanwhile, the press service of the Central District of Rosgvardia confirmed information about the conflict to the agency.

“During the festive events in Gorky Park, the servicemen of the Russian Guard, in cooperation with the police, stopped the violation of public order. Measures are being taken to establish the identity of the instigators,” the department said.
