After his conviction for embezzlement, the former mayor of Frankfurt Peter Feldmann (SPD) appealed the sentence to the 24th criminal section of the Frankfurt regional court. A court spokesman said on Monday. Feldmann previously reported on the revision in an email on Sunday.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office, on the other hand, declared itself satisfied with the outcome of the proceedings, even if the court’s verdict did not satisfy the sanction requested by the prosecutors. A spokesman said no appeals had been filed.
In December Feldmann was sentenced to a fine of 120 euros a day for 175 euros in the corruption trial. The trial concerned Feldmann’s close ties to the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (Awo). The politician had always denied being corrupt. Feldmann was – also as a result of the indictment and trial – rejected on November 6 with a referendum.
