Former Nurse in Manchester Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Murdering Babies

Manchester: A court in Manchester, England has sentenced a former nurse to life imprisonment on seven counts of murdering babies. The court finds that the defendant intentionally injected air or insulin into newborn babies while working in a nursery in order to cause their death.

Another child had overfed the accused with milk. In six other cases, the woman’s plan is said to have failed. During a search of the accused’s apartment, documents from the hospital in question were found on which the names of the first four victims were noted. According to British law, the former nurse will remain in prison until her own death.

She is the fourth woman in the country’s history to be sentenced to life imprisonment (Whole Life Order). Trial observers had accused the accused of having acted in cold blood and showing no remorse during the trial. The former nurse herself was not present when the verdict was pronounced. Meanwhile, the UK’s Minister for Justice, Alex Chalk, has announced that he intends to amend the law so that criminals can be forced to attend court hearings in the future.
