Former NHL Player Mike Ribeiro Faces Third Sexual Assault Charge

Already accused of sexual assault in connection with two incidents, former National Hockey League (NHL) player Mike Ribeiro is now the subject of a third complaint of a similar nature.

That’s what TSN network reporter Rick Westhead learned on Wednesday.

A Texas grand jury added a third charge of sexual assault to the 43-year-old man’s case. Ribeiro’s case is due in a Franklin County court for the preliminary hearing on August 18.

It was in April 2022 that the ex-player of the Montreal Canadiens was accused in the first two cases of sexual assault. He was arrested before being released on $200,000 bail.

Ribeiro allegedly assaulted one woman with his finger and another with her genitals. The facts reported in these two cases would have taken place on June 23, 2021.

Drafted by the CH in the second round of the 1998 auction, the Montrealer had a few interesting seasons with his hometown team before being traded to the Dallas Stars in return for Janne Niinimaa. He then hatched in Texas, including an 83-point season in 2007-2008. Ribeiro played his last NHL games in 2016-17, finishing his career with 228 goals and 793 points in 1,074 games with the Habs, Stars, Washington Capitals, Phoenix Coyotes and Nashville Predators.
