Former New York Mayor Giuliani refuses to testify before the Capitol Riots Committee.

Mr Giuliani, who served as the lawyer for former US President Donald Trump, had already agreed to a “transcribed interview” with the committee before making the request, spokesman Tim Mulvey said.

“Mr. Giuliani is an important witness to the conspiracy to overthrow the government and he remains under subpoena,” Mr. Mulvey said. “If he refuses to comply, the commission will consider all execution options.”

A lawyer for Giuliani could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday evening.

The former mayor tweeted an article from The Gateway Pundit reporting that he had requested live national television coverage of his scheduled testimony, a request that was denied by the commission.

The commission is trying to establish Trump’s actions as thousands of his supporters stormed the Capitol in January last year, dispatching members of Congress and then-Vice President Mike Pence. rush for cover.

Congress had gathered to officially certify the victory of Democrat Joe Biden over Republican Trump in the November 2020 presidential election.

More than 900 people, including many of Trump’s White House aides, were interviewed as part of the commission’s investigation.
