Former New York Mayor Bill de Blasio will teach at New York University – NBC New York

NEW YORK – Former New York Mayor Bill de Blasio is returning to his alma mater, New York University, for a teaching job.

De Blasio, who will spend the fall semester as Professor in the Schools of Government and Public Health at Harvard Universitywill join NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service as a Marnold Visiting Fellow in 2023, the university announced.

“Bill de Blasio’s presence offers students, faculty and graduates an unprecedented opportunity to learn from someone with extraordinary experience and many hard-earned successes in the political arena, decision-making and management,” said Sherry Glied. dean of Wagner. School.

School officials said de Blasio will speak and meet students and faculty starting in January and teach a graduate program in the spring.

De Blasio, a Democrat, left office at the end of 2021 after two terms as mayor of the nation’s largest city. Previously he held the role of city councilor and public defender.

“When I graduated from New York University in the 1980s, I never dreamed of a path that would lead me to City Hall and then back to my alma mater,” said de Blasio. “Now I can help others develop their dreams.
