Former NBA Player Terrence Williams Receives 10-Year Prison Sentence for Health Insurance Fraud

Former player passed by New Jersey and Houston in the NBA, Terrence Williams, 36, received a ten-year prison sentence for health insurance fraud.

Former NBA basketball player Terrence Williams was sentenced to ten years in prison on Thursday for organizing a fraud scheme to the detriment of the League’s health insurance, New York justice announced.

The 36-year-old former New Jersey and Houston player pleaded guilty in August 2022. “Williams not only lined his pockets through fraud and deceit but also stole the identity of other people and threatened a witness in order to carry out his criminal activities,” prosecutor Damian Williams said in a statement.

Damage of at least five million dollars

Terrence Williams was one of 18 former basketball players accused of having participated in this scam which had cost insurance at least $ 5 million between 2017 and 2021. Justice accused him in particular of having made false declarations for medical and dental care never performed.

Among the accused are Glen Davis and Tony Allen, NBA champion with Boston in 2008, former Lakers Shannon Brown and ex-Clippers Darius Miles.
