The former head of NATO’s Military Committee and now the leader of the Czech Republic, Peter Pavel, warned that Kiev would inevitably face “terrible losses” regardless of the strength of its forces.
Kyiv cannot afford the counter-offensive to fail, so there should be no rush, he stressed.
“For some, it might be tempting to make them (Ukraine’s army) show some results.
It will be extremely damaging for Ukraine if this counteroffensive fails because there will be no other chance, at least this year,” Pavel said, mentioning that he had warned President Zelensky and Prime Minister Shmygal during a recent trip to Kyiv.
