Former Nantes FC. Gor Manvelyan scores, FC Noah move closer to Conference League qualification

After eliminating FK Shkëndija (North Macedonia), Sliema Wanderers FC (Malta), then AEK Athens (Greece) in the first three qualification rounds for the UEFA Conference League, FC Noah hosted MFK Ružomberok (Slovakia) tonight. After failing at the qualification stage three years ago, the Armenians are now very close to securing their place in the C4 group stages with the 3-0 victory obtained in this first leg in face of the Slovaks.

If the player had left some regrets among Nantes supporters who hoped to see the Franco-Armenian succeed in the City of Dukes club, Gor Manvelyan seems to have found a semblance of stability at FC Noah, a club in the suburbs of Yerevan that he joined last summer. An important starter in midfield (21 games and 3 goals last season), the former Canary was once again convincing tonight.

After taking the lead in the game with a goal from Goncalo Gregorio, the Armenians, despite their clear control of the field, took time to double their lead. After a power cut that stopped the game for several minutes of the second half, it was Gor Manvelyan who confirmed, from the penalty spot, the advantage of FC Noah, before another goal was scored in extra time. (final score 3-0).

Thanks to this great success, FC Noah seems to be closer than ever to a historic action. Indeed, if the Armenians do not fall significantly during the return game (August 29), they should probably, for the first time since the creation of the club in 2017, get their ticket for European competition group stage.
