Former MythBusters presenter Grant Imahara dies at age 49 – IT Pro – Geeks

Former MythBusters presenter and engineer Grant Imahara died suddenly on Monday at the age of 49. Imahara worked as a member of the Build Team of the popular series from 2005 to 2014. The American previously worked for THX on Matrix and Star Wars films.

Imahara is best known for his role at MythBusters, where he mainly built the necessary robots for the program. The American has worked on the popular TV series since the third season. He left the series in 2014, along with co-hosts Tory Belleci and Kari Byron. With these two presenters he later made the Netflix series White Rabbit Project, in which the three tried to explain striking events from, for example, history with experiments.

Before his role at MythBusters he worked for the Lucasfilm parts THX and Industrial Light & Magic. Here he made models and dolls for films like the three Star Wars prologues, The Matrix films and the third Terminator film. He also played Hikaru Sulu in the fan-made Star Trek Continues series.

According to Hollywood Reporter died Imahara suddenly suffers from a brain aneurysm. Discovery says to the site heartbroken and that Imahara was an important member of the Discovery family. On Twitter writes MythBusters presenter Adam Savage to be speechless and that Imahara had been part of his life for 22 years. Savage says that Imahara was a generous, pleasant and gentle man and that he will miss his friend.
