Jackson (67) became champion nine times as a coach in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), he played 1,072 DEL games as a coach and in 2019 he led Munich as the first German club to the final of the Champions League. The American will work in coach development at Red Bull in the future.
Söderholm was still a player under Jackson in Munich’s first championship in 2016. The Finn most recently looked after the top Swiss club SC Bern for just five months. On Thursday (7:30 p.m.) the defending champion EHC opens the new DEL season with a home game against Düsseldorfer EG.
“He is a great coach and finds the right words during breaks in the game,” said striker Maximilian Kastner, praising the new Munich coach Söderholm.
