Former MP Harold LeBel Takes on Project Manager Role for Carrefour 50+ du Québec After Prison Release

Now released from prison, Harold LeBel becomes a project manager for Carrefour 50 + du Québec in the Rimouski office. The organization brings together 145 clubs for seniors in Eastern Quebec.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors, Richard Rancourt, indicates that the former MP for Rimouski stands out for his experience and his skills to help develop the Carrefour 50 +.

Harold Lebel will take office this Wednesday, August 16. In particular, he will help clubs with their governance structure and their development of new approaches to technology.

Convicted of sexual assault in November 2022 against his former colleague in the Parti Québécois and current mayor of Longueuil, Catherine Fournier, Mr. LeBel took advantage of a conditional release last March.

He then stayed in a halfway house to continue his therapeutic approach with a psychologist.

Sincere regrets

“You express sincere regret and show empathy towards the victim. In detention, you showed yourselves repentant”, indicates the Quebec Commission of the conditional releases in its recent decision concerning the former deputy of Rimouski.

Registered in the register of sex offenders for 20 years, Harold LeBel also submitted to a DNA sample for genetic analysis. A ban on possessing weapons is also imposed by the court for a period of 10 years.
