The head of the Marada Movement, former minister and deputy, Suleiman Franjieh, confirmed that Lebanon is on the verge of “good” days, and indicated that the understandings in the region will reflect positively on Lebanon, and that “the Saudi-Iranian understanding relieves Lebanon,” and stressed that he “will not go to A session in which he challenges Saudi Arabia.” He said, “I may be able to be president, but I will not be able to rule, and therefore I am not in a hurry.”
Franjieh said, in a televised interview, that “with calm calculations, I can reach 65 votes, but I will not be able to rule, and the battle is not a battle to secure a quorum, but a “battle to include everyone.”
And he stressed that “if he reaches the presidency, he will be at the same distance from everyone,” revealing a comfortable atmosphere that reaches him, and he said, “If the Saudis had something against me, they would have announced it.”
In response to a question, Franjieh confirmed that he “does not promise anything that is not within his powers,” explaining that he supports the rotation of ministerial portfolios.
Franjieh revealed that “when the advisor to the French President, Patrick Dorrell, went to Saudi Arabia, he told him that” the atmosphere is positive, “and he said:” I can believe the French.
Franjieh added, “It is true that I belong to a specific axis, and what distinguishes me from others is that I do not deny my history, but when I become president, I will be the president of all the Lebanese.”
He continued, “In 2015, Saudi Arabia supported me despite my saying that Sayyed Nasrallah was ‘master of all,’ and today I repeat that I am against the war in Yemen and against the war in Syria.”
He pointed out that “when we hope that the Saudi-Iranian agreement will not take place so that it will not be reflected in the interest of one party at home over another,” then there is a problem.
Franjieh added, “I am from March 8, and I do not do anything I do not believe in,” explaining: “I am ready “today and every day” for dialogue with Samir Geagea, and Bkerki is 100 meters away from him, where we meet directly “head to head and in one room.”
Franjieh confirmed that “we are on the verge of “good” days in Lebanon and days of openness in the region,” and said: “I have something that many do not have, which is the confidence of Hezbollah and the confidence of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and I can do with them what others cannot do.”
And he announced that he “will not go to a session in which he challenges countries,” pointing out that “things need understanding.” He said, “I respect what (Saudi Crown Prince) Prince Mohammed bin Salman is doing and his audacity, especially on the issue of ending the Yemen war.”
Frangieh expressed his belief that “things have begun to tend towards solutions, and we support the return of refugees through a serious and frank dialogue with Syria.”
In another context, he stressed the need for dialogue in order to “reach a solution that satisfies both parties through a way in which the Lebanese feel that Hezbollah’s weapons are not directed at them.”
