Former Minister of Trade Muhammad Lutfi talked about his friendship with Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir and Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.
Lutfi said that the three of them had been close friends since elementary school (SD). Lutfi told this through a video uploaded to Lutfi’s official Instagram account @m.lutfi.
“I met Erick and Sandi from 6th grade. This is no one else for me, even as family,” he said in the video, quoted Monday (18/12/2023).
Then as time went by, all three of them continued their education in the United States (US). Then the third meeting happened by accident at the Hard Rock Cafe, Boston, USA.
This meeting was then immortalized through photos that have been spread on social media showing the three of them when they were young and with one of the women. “We were both continuing our studies in the United States, who met by chance in front of the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston,” he said.
Lutfi said that the meeting happened by accident. Because all three of them were going home from school together. The three of them are also members of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI).
The meeting also continued with the three of them holding the first student congress as members of HIPMI. Lutfi also said that the congress united and gave rise to new ideas from the nation’s children for Indonesia.
“We all came home from trade school together. Then Erick and Sandi and I became HIPMI administrators. We held the first student congress in 1990 after maybe 30 years of absence. Then student leaders from all over the United States emerged. So that’s when it started to show new ideas,” said Lutfi.
“I also saw before that Sandi has good thoughts. Erick has good thoughts. We already have many aspirations for the nation,” he said.
