Former Minister of Inside Affairs Andrzej Milczanowski has died

On Tuesday, July 23, Andrzej Milczanowski died. Within the years 1992-1995, he was the Minister of Inside Affairs within the governments of Hanna Suchocka, Waldemar Pawlak and Józef Oleksy. He was embellished with, amongst others, the Grand Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Cross of Freedom and Solidarity. He was 85 years outdated.

Andrzej Milczanowski was born on Might 26, 1939 in Rivne, Western Ukraine. He graduated from the School of Regulation and Administration of Adam Mickiewicz College in Poznań. Within the years 1968–1980 he was a authorized adviser in municipal and agricultural enterprises.

From 1978 he grew to become concerned in opposition actions. Till 1980 he collaborated with KSS “KOR”, and from 1980 with NSZZ “Solidarność”. From October 1980 he was operationally investigated by officers of the communist secret companies. After the introduction of martial regulation he participated within the strike committee on the Adolf Warski Shipyard in Szczecin. After the pacification of the strike he was arrested and in March 1982 sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment. He was below the care of Amnesty Worldwide as a prisoner of conscience. He was launched within the spring of 1984.

Andrzej Milczanowski was additionally concerned within the underground Solidarity motion. He chaired the Coordination Council of Western Pomerania, sat on the Short-term Coordination Fee, and from 1987 on the Nationwide Government Fee. In 1988, he took half in strike committees in workplaces in Szczecin. In December 1988, he acquired an award from the Paul Lauritzen Basis in Copenhagen, which promotes folks working to defend human rights.

From August 1990 to January 1992 he was the pinnacle of the Workplace for State Safety. On July 11, 1992 he was appointed Minister of Inside Affairs, a place he held till December 22, 1995.
