Former military ministers Krasimir Karakachanov and Angel Naydenov believe that President Rumen Radev’s veto imposed on the decision of the parliament to provide betaers from the Ministry of the Interior of Ukraine was correct. According to them, this way more arguments can be heard in the parliament. They expressed their opinion in the program “Your Day” on NOVA NEWS.
According to Krasimir Karakachanov, Ukraine will sell the beteers to another country. “I would sell half of them, now their price is at least half a million BGN per unit. With this money, I will repair the remaining machines that can be used for extinguishing forest fires, for guarding the border. They are unfit for modern warfare. The Ukrainians will resell the beteers somewhere in Africa”, says Karakachanov.
According to Angel Naydenov, the military aid provided by EU countries (to Ukraine) is covered by EU funds. Bulgaria also contributes to these funds and part of the packages provided by Bulgaria are paid for. Our country will receive part of the value of the funds for these machines, said Naydenov. According to him, the machines have not been used for more than 40 years and would hardly be used at this time.
In response, Karakachanov said: “Since they are of no use, why are you giving them to Ukraine.” “No millions will be transferred to Bulgaria,” he believes. According to him, nothing will come of this veto, because: “the Magnitsky society in the parliament has long been on its knees and is firmly determined to sacrifice everything, including the interests of Bulgaria, in order to solve its personal problems.” “This is another act of coercion,” Karakachanov believes.
“The machines are poorly protected, with low maneuverability. Ukraine has a project for the modification of similar machines, but they gave up because the corresponding modernization is unprofitable,” said Naydenov.
